Nate's Letter Home - Feb 11, 2019

Me voy in style - 11 febrero 2019

Well I´m going to have to make this fast because I had to send in the paperwork for the two baptisms.

First off, yes, I´m leaving. I am going to Chacabuco, which is clear out in campo. So lookes like I´ll be back on the bike. I will be finishing the training of Elder Mendez. I know nothing about him, so I guess I´ll find out tomorrow. Chacabuco is a branch by the way, so this will be my first time not being in a ward.

Well I guess you´ve already heard the big news about the baptisms this weekend. It was awesome. Basically the entire ward was there.

I guess I should tell you how José decided to be baptized. Last monday night, we went to visit him. We had a great lesson about the importance of baptism, and then we invited him to be baptized this saturday. He gave us the same answer he had given us before, that he didn´t feel like he was ready, and that he wanted to learn more first. So then we invited him to pray with us, and to ask God if he should be baptized this saturday. He said a simple prayer and did just that. When he ended the prayer, we sat in silence for a few seconds, and then he started to cry. I explained that what he was feeling was the Spirit. Then he simply asked, ¨¿Qué tengo que hacer para bautizarme este sábado?¨

So we taught him the rest of the commandments on tuesday, then had his interview on wednesday. Oh by the way, we also did the interview for 4 grandkids of la familia Carranza, who aren´t baptized. They all passed, but one of them went on vacation, so we decided to wait a week so they can all get baptized together.

Well, I´m definitely going to miss Castillo a lot. It´s always had to say goodbye to an area after being there for 6 months.

Anyway, have a good week!

-Elder Shelton

"Me voy" = "I'm going/leaving"

¨¿Qué tengo que hacer para bautizarme este sábado?¨ = "What do I have to do to be baptized this Saturday?"
